ESFA Update academies: 10 October 2018
Published 10 October 2018
1. Action: Reminder: land and buildings collection tool (LBCT)
Thank you to all the trusts who have already submitted their land and buildings collection tool (LBCT) return. For those who are working on it, you have until 5 November 2018. Please see our LBCT guidance if you need help with your submission.
This year the LBCT has improved the sign off for church owned land. If your return includes church owned land you will have to enter a diocesan user email – the person who will confirm all the church owned land details entered in your form. If you are not sure which email to add please contact your local diocese or church trustees to find out.
We are holding a series of weekly skype calls and webchats to answer any queries users may have. The next event will be via webchat on 12 October. Please visit our LBCT page to view the full timetable and joining instructions.
If you are not able to join the weekly calls or web chats you can send any questions to us via the enquiry form quoting ‘LBCT’ and your Trust UPIN at the top of the form.
Please note that it is now ESFA’s policy to publish the names of academy trusts that are late, or do not submit 2 or more financial returns in each academic year. We strongly advise all trusts to allow sufficient time for checks and sign off by the deadline for each financial return.
2. Information: academy and trust name changes
We would like to clarify that when an academy or trust changes name, they need to:
- (academies) update get information about schools (GIAS) using their secure access details to login
- (trusts) file the resolution with Companies House (this will automatically update GIAS)
There is no need to amend your funding agreement (master, supplemental or single) with a deed of variation (DoV).
If you do opt to amend your funding agreement in this way, we will progress the DoV for you when received.
For trust name changes that involve a change in the company number, please submit a deed of novation to ESFA in the name of the new trust after the filing the resolution at Companies House. In this instance the trust’s articles of association will also need amending.
3. Information: news teaching jobs service
The DfE has recently launched a new teaching jobs service, which lists school teaching roles.
The service:
- is free to use for all state-funded schools in England
- is free to use by all jobseekers looking for teaching jobs in England
- enables schools to publish and amend job listings themselves
- follows the widely recognised Job Posting standard to improve the quality of job listings and make them as shareable as possible
You can find out which areas of the service is live by viewing DfE’s blog. You can also see all current vacancies.
