1. Reminder: tell us how we can improve our services
As mentioned in last week’s update, our customer experience team would like you to complete a short survey about your experiences of working with ESFA.
Please complete the survey, if you have not done so already, by 5pm on Wednesday next week (20 July). It should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Your feedback will help us improve our services for education and training providers.
To ensure your responses stay anonymous, please do not use identifying details within your answers.

2. Information: R10 in-year qualification achievement rate
In-year qualification achievement rates (QARs) for 2021 to 2022 will shortly be made available via the View Your Education Data portal. Please ensure you have the correct IDAMS user access and the IDAMS user guides provide detail for creating access or checking your user permissions.
This in-year release is based on R10 data and provides indicative QARs for apprenticeships, education and training and traineeships. We will also update these in-year qualification achievement rates following R12 data.
This in-year data gives providers the opportunity to identify and resolve potential data issues prior to the ILR R14 hard close on 20 October 2022. On the qualification achievement rates 2021 to 2022 webpage we have also published guidance for reviewing data based on the common data issues that arise.
If you have any queries in relation to QARs, please contact us via our online enquiry form, select the QAR query type. Where the enquiry relates to specific learner queries, please also complete and submit the data query form which can be downloaded from GOV.UK.
3. Information: Find a learning aim is moving to a new URL
Find a Learning Aim is moving to a new website address (https://submit-learner-data.service.gov.uk/find-a-learning-aim) from 13 July. At the same time, the link to access downloads will change to: (https://submit-learner-data.service.gov.uk/find-a-learning-aim/downloaddata)
Users trying to access the old websites after the move will be redirected to the new websites automatically.
The redirects will be in place for a minimum of 3 months to allow users time to update any bookmarks.
If you have questions about this change, please complete an online ESFA contact form.
4. Information: change to payment dates from August 2022
From August 2022 we are combining the payment dates for the grant funded adult programmes and 16 to 19 funding. Currently adult grants are paid on the 14th working day and they will move to the 18th calendar day or first working day prior.
- adult education budget (grant funded)
- advance learner loans bursary (grant funded)
In August 2022, payments will reach bank accounts on the same date (18 August), however, in September adult grant funding will paid on 16 September instead of 20 September.
If you are in receipt of both adult funding and 16 to 19 funding these will be paid together and if applicable will be offset against one another when payments are processed.
If you have any questions, please contact the enquiry service.
5. Information: Apprenticeship Accountability Framework webinar download

6. Your feedback: capacity to support recently arriving students from Ukraine
The Department for Education (DfE) is keen to understand how FE colleges and sixth form colleges are managing people arriving from Ukraine under the Homes for Ukraine or Ukraine Family Scheme.
We’d be grateful if leaders could complete the relevant survey:
7. Your feedback: role of industry in upskilling FE teachers and students
The Gatsby Foundation is exploring the role of Industry Associates for technical education delivery. We would be grateful if a member of your senior leadership team with responsibility for curriculum would complete a short survey, which should take around 5 minutes. The purpose of the survey is to inform any future training support for Industry Associates involved in technical education delivery.
The term Industry Associates is used here to describe individuals who are working in industry, and also contribute to technical education teaching through, for example, co-delivery of a session, masterclasses for students and supporting teachers’ industry upskilling, delivery of short elements of the curriculum.
Gatsby has commissioned York Consulting to manage the survey, which can be is accessed online.
The survey will close on Friday 19 August.
Outcomes of the survey will be reported anonymously. For information on how your information will be kept secure please see York Consulting’s Privacy Policy.
For any questions regarding the survey please contact Jenifer Burden.
Gatsby also intends to hold focus groups to discuss this topic in more detail. If you would be willing to be invited to a focus group, please give your contact details at the end of the survey.
Thank you for your help.
