ESFA Update further education: 15 August 2018
Published 15 August 2018
Applies to England
1. Action: apprentice payments system
We are making a number of improvements to the apprenticeship payments system to address known issues.
You may see adjustments reflecting this reconciliation at R12, to show more accurate reporting. This includes updates to the employer co-investment field.
It is important that you submit accurate timely data and that you complete any amendments to your 2017 to 2018 ILR data by 6pm on 18 October 2018. After this, you will not be able to fix any data match issues, which will affect payment relating to August 2017 to July 2018 activity.
For more detail, please look at the published article on FE Connect.
2. Information: improvements to the data collections service (the Hub)
We are improving the data collections service (the Hub) to:
-
make it quicker and easier for providers
-
bring it into line with GOV.UK standards
-
future-proof the service
We have been working with providers to make sure we understand their needs and will continue to do this as we move into the next phase of the project (private beta). We will also publish regular updates on our progress over the coming weeks.
If you would like to take part in our private beta research, complete our short survey.
3. Information: minimum standards thresholds for 2017 to 2018
We have published the minimum standards document for 2017 to 2018. This sets out the minimum standards thresholds for all age apprenticeships and adult 19+ education and training for 2017 to 2018 and how they are applied.
The thresholds for 2017 to 2018 are unchanged from the thresholds used in 2016 to 2017.
4. Information: early intervention and prevention strategy
We have updated and revised the published early intervention and prevention strategy for further education and sixth form colleges. This replaces the strategy published in December 2016.
We have revised the triggers for early intervention to help us identify risks to public funding of further education sooner. We have also taken the opportunity to reference the changes that have happened since the merger of our predecessor organisations in April 2017, such as, the expanded role of the FE Commissioner.
5. Information: devolution of adult education functions: the transition year memorandum of understanding
Department for Education and the combined authorities have agreed arrangements set out on GOV.UK, to work together for the transition period, before certain adult education functions are devolved to combined authorities from the academic year 2019 to 2020.
