Action: Year-end funding claim for 2023 to 2024 

The year-end funding claim window will open at 9am on Monday 10 June 2024.

Submit your year-end funding claim by 5pm on Thursday 13 June 2024. The claim form will be available on submit learner data. The funding claims user guide is available to help you complete the form.

You will need to submit a claim if you receive funds through these grant-funded contracts:  

  • Education Skills and Funding Agency (ESFA) funded adult education budget (AEB) ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­– adult skills, community learning, 19 to 24 traineeships and level 3 free courses for jobs offer
  • advanced learner loans bursary (ALLB) ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

The 16 to 19 delivery section of the funding claim only needs to be signed off for your final funding claims. For 16 to 19 delivery, you do not need to take any action for mid-year or year-end funding claims.

You must not enter any adjustments relating to the earnings boost in your funding claim, we will do this after you have submitted the claim. Your indicative reconciliation statement (for grant-funded providers) will include the earnings boost that we have calculated.

We will contact all providers with the details behind the calculations as we did last year. We will review claims to ensure they are substantiated by the data you have submitted in your individualised learner record (ILR).

Once you have submitted your year-end funding claim on submit learner data, you will also be able to view it on manage your education and skills funding

Action: Declare your subcontracting arrangements for 2023 to 2024 academic year

Post-16 providers are required to submit a fully completed subcontractor declaration on manage your education and skills funding. The window for declaring arrangements for Tuesday 1 August 2023 to Wednesday 31 July 2024 is now open.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 30 June 2024.

If you do not subcontract you must still provide a nil return to confirm this.

The Prime Minister has announced there will be a general election on Thursday 4 July 2024. Over the next 6 weeks, in the run up to the election, we are in the ‘pre-election’ period. During this period essential business to ensure the smooth functioning of government and public services will continue.

ESFA will continue to deliver the majority of our operational activity as normal. However, we must pause on communicating anything new or novel, and on most of our external engagement activities.

Information: Budget forecast return is now live, deadline Thursday 29 August 2024

The academies budget and forecast return (BFR) form is live. The deadline for submission is Thursday 29 August 2024.

This year’s BFR now uses DfE Sign-in (DSI) and your previous IDAMs account will not work.

If you’re new to the BFR you will need a DSI account to complete the BFR. To create a new DSI account, visit the help using DfE Sign-in guidance page.
