ESFA Update academies: 9 January 2019
Published 9 January 2019
Applies to England
1. Reminder: academies accounts return
The deadline to submit your trust’s accounts return is Monday 21 January 2019. We have published guidance to help with your submission.
We are holding a series of Skype calls and web chats to help you with your submission. You can also submit a query using the ESFA enquiry form. Please put “accounts return” at the top of your enquiry and provide your trust’s UPIN.
ESFA will publish the names of academy trusts who are late, or do not submit, two or more financial returns in each academic year. We strongly advise all users to allow sufficient time for all checks to be completed and signed off before any deadlines.
2. Information: changes to reporting related party transactions from April 2019
From April 2019, trusts will need to declare all related party transactions to ESFA using an online system. Trusts will also need to get prior approval from ESFA where individual or cumulative transactions exceed £20,000.
We will publish further information, guidance and support material over the next few weeks.
If you are interested in helping to test and develop the new system, please contact us using the ESFA enquiry form. Please put “RPT system testing and development” at the top of your enquiry.
3. Information: Safer Internet Day
The Department for Education (DfE) are encouraging schools to engage with Safer Internet Day, which takes place on Tuesday 5 February.
The aim is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. The theme of the day will be ‘Together for a better internet’, empowering young people to take control of their digital lives and consider how consent works in an online context.
The UK Safer Internet Centre has published a range of age related teaching resources, including short films that will help schools to prepare activities for a successful Safer Internet Day.
