There is no single official measure of housing need. This research, by Professor Glen Bramley et al, assesses and forecasts housing need in England, in terms of a range of housing outcomes including overcrowding, homelessness and unsuitable accommodation.

The findings and recommendations in this report are those of the consultant authors and do not necessarily represent the views or proposed policies of the Department for Communities and Local Government.
