Details

This policy for authorisation of Food Competent Certifying Officers (FCCOs) sets out the working relationship between the Agency which acts on behalf of the relevant ministers in England, Scotland and Wales, and FCCOs who seek to carry out tasks on behalf of those ministers and who are not employees of the government.

Before anyone becomes authorised as an FCCO they must read this document, and then refer to it while authorised.

It contains information about:

  • the processes for FCCO training and authorisation
  • revalidation requirements for the Official Controls Qualification (OCQ)(FCCO) qualification
  • the standards to which FCCOs must perform their tasks
  • assessment and quality assurance
  • revocation or suspension of authorisation
  • cessation of appointments
