On 23 January 2018 Ofqual imposed additional conditions (special conditions) on ETCAL, following a change of ownership.

The special conditions provide a framework to give Ofqual oversight as ETCAL’s new owners review how the organisation will secure sustainable compliance. The special conditions put safeguards around the issue of results and certificates by ETCAL in the intervening period.

The special conditions replace a direction which was given by Ofqual in October 2017, before the change of ownership.
