This report evaluates:

  • if Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) reduce barriers to learning
  • students’ experiences of DSAs
  • the effectiveness of DSA support for students
  • the effects of recent DSA funding changes

It used a 3-stage methodology, including:

  • qualitative case study visits to 8 higher education providers (HEPs)
  • an online survey with 1,773 students
  • follow up interviews with 50 students who completed the survey
