Details

The research presents findings from the Evaluation of the Support for Very Long Term Unemployed Trailblazer (SVLTU) involving qualitative and quantitative research with providers, staff and customers undertaken February-August 2012. The report provides details of the support delivered under the On-going Case Management (OCM) and Community Action Programme (CAP) strands of the SVLTU and evidence on hard and soft outcome for participants. The report also provides details of customer experience and lessons learnt from delivery. The report provides a number of recommendations for consideration in the policy design of Post- Work Programme Support.

This research report supplements the DWP off-flow statistics to be published on the same day which found significantly lower rates of benefit receipt for OCM and CAP customers compared to the control at a point 41 weeks after random allocation. Longer term job outcomes are due to be published by DWP in 2013.

Ministers have been considering the results of the research report and the off-flow statistics in planning for Post- Work Programme provision.
