This study examines the volume of litigation at the Patents Court (PHC) and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) between 2007 and 2013. The study provides a comprehensive picture of patent litigation at the PHC and IPEC.
The report focuses on the number of cases involving European patents litigated at these venues. Unless patentees opt out of this new court, cases involving European patents will fall under the jurisdiction of the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
The research also analyses other factors such as:
- the types of claims filed
- how often small and medium-sized enterprises are parties in litigation
- the industrial sectors European patent cases fall into
