Details of the application
Exbury Gardens Limited has applied to the Environment Agency to vary two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The applications are to vary two licences. Licence serial number 11/42/10.3/11 authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising Barton Sands at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 42108 00601 and licence serial number 11/42/10/9 authorises abstraction from an inland water known as Gilbury Pond at NGR SU 41793 00253, both at Exbury Gardens, Exbury, Hampshire.
The variation applied for is to add a second borehole to licence serial number 11/42/10.3/11 at NGR SU 42152 00875 and to increase the maximum quantities across the two boreholes to 29.5 cubic metres per hour, 501.5 cubic metres per day and 55,770 cubic metres per year. The same increase in quantities is also proposed for the subsequent re-abstraction from the pond under licence serial number 11/42/10/9.
The abstractions lie within the New Forest Abstraction Licensing Strategy area and New Forest National Park.
