Pre-movement testing Exempt Finishing Units (EFUs) can be approved in England only.

They provide a route for beef producers to finish cattle without the need for a pre-movement test.

These units can accept cattle that would normally need pre-movement testing without the animals being tested.

EFUs must be approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). The unit must meet strict conditions to reduce the potential risk of disease spread from the premises.

If you wish to apply to set up an EFU, please contact your local APHA Field Services.
