The Ministry of Justice commissioned Ipsos UK to conduct a qualitative research study with organisations (including solicitors and commercial organisations) that bring cases to the civil and family court. It explores the factors that influence users’ decision making when deciding to bring cases to court, including the role costs and court fees play in their decisions. The report also explores what alternative resolution options were considered and/or tried before going to court, as well as participants’ experience of certain court processes.
A similar study was conducted with individual and SME court users in 2023 and the findings of that research can be found on GOV.UK.
