On 5 September 2017 at the launch of the Farmer report, the Government welcomed the 19 recommendations from the review. Progress has been made on most of the recommendations, a handful that require longer-term structural reform are also being considered. Those recommendations deemed to have been completed are constantly being reviewed to ensure that the importance of strengthening prisoner’s family and significant other ties are embedded in the prison regime as a ‘golden thread’. This is the third formal update demonstrating progress that has been made against each recommendation to date.
