This document provides the UK government’s response to the Independent Commission for Aid Impact’s (ICAI) review of the UK’s approach to safeguarding in the humanitarian sector (February 2022). It sets out our response to the proposed recommendations.

The UK government welcomes ICAI’s recognition of the government’s strong commitment to and investment in safeguarding against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) in the international aid sector. We will continue to prioritise safeguarding against SEAH in all of our work, including our humanitarian support across the world.

Our commitments are set out in the UK strategy: safeguarding against sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment within the aid sector and the 2018 Safeguarding Summit commitments.
