Details

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Historians provide a long-term, policy-relevant perspective on international issues, and contribute to the collective knowledge and understanding of British foreign policy.

To support this function, the team released a series of papers, seminars and documents published over the course of the last 25 years on ISSUU in May 2013.

Taken together, these documents cover a wide range of historical subjects in a variety of different formats, offering a glimpse into the history and relationships that have helped shape British international relations in the 20th century and beyond:

  • History Notes examine subjects from Nazi gold to the slave trade
  • Occasional Papers record lectures given in the FCDO or research papers written by the FCDO Historians
  • Documents from the Archives reproduce original documents on specific topics from the departmental archives
  • Witness Seminars contain oral testimony given by FCDO alumni; along with other miscellaneous publications.
