This publication explains the standards and processes for ultrasound practitioners working in fetal anomaly screening.
It includes:
- an overview of the fetal anomaly screening programme (FASP)
- explanation of screening tests
- an explanation of the screening support sonographer’s role
- down’s syndrome screening criteria
- quality assurance recommendations and procedures
- ultrasound screening markers for Down’s, Edwards’ and Patau’s syndromes as part of the combined test
The Down’s syndrome screening quality assurance support service (DQASS) monitors and supports the quality and effectiveness of Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome and Patau’s syndrome screening in England.
It includes a nuchal translucency diagnostic plot self-assessment spreadsheet tool for practitioners to enter their 25 paired NT/crown rump length (CRL) measurements.
