Details

This report sets out literature review findings and evidence on international approaches intended to reduce property damage in the event of a fire.

It notes results from a compare and contrast exercise from a sample of countries, setting out whether they approach property protection through prescriptive, or (as in England and Wales), performance-based Building Regulations.

It concludes that life safety is the primary objective of building and fire safety regulations for residential buildings in all countries studied.
