FOI 0517-15 advises that in the last 5 years, the Consular directorate is aware of 43 cases of complaints by British nationals of torture or mistreatment within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) justice system. 37 relate to Dubai and 6 to Abu Dhabi. 19 complaints fall under the category ‘physical beatings’. Some information is withheld under section 40 (personal information) of the Freedom of Information Act
