Details

This HMPPS Policy Framework sets out the processes that prison staff must follow in the period following death in custody, including facilitating independent investigations into the death and notifying and liaising with the family of the deceased.

It replaces chapters 12 & 13 of PSI 64/2011 Management of prisoners at risk of harm to self, to others and from others (Safer Custody) and the relevant sections of PSI 58/2010 The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
