Details

We carried out the Review of the Forensic Archive Limited (FAL) in accordance with Cabinet Office guidance which says that it is good practice for arms length bodies (like FAL) to be reviewed every 3 years.

The review sought to address 4 questions:

  • whether FAL’s functions were still needed
  • if so, whether FAL was the right body to deliver those functions
  • if so, whether any efficiency savings could be found
  • whether existing governance arrangements remained appropriate

The main recommendations are that the archive should continue to exist, that it should continue to be maintained by the FAL and that the Home Office should continue to fund it.
