Details

This document summarises the main features of school inspections conducted under section 109(1) and (2) of the Education and Skills Act 2008, and describes how the general principles and processes of inspection are applied to non-association independent schools in England. This framework should be read alongside the non-association independent school inspection handbook.

This document was updated in January 2015 to incorporate the new independent school standards regulations, and to reflect the commencement of further sections of the Education and Skills Act 2008, under which inspections of independent schools will now take place.
