Asset management has a strong role to play in establishing the vision for an area and the strategy will aim to show how it can underpin the visions set out in the sustainable community strategy, local area agreement and the local development framework. The strategy will look at the all performance of assets and how they can be used to deliver efficiency gains set out by national improvement and efficiency strategy and delivering value for money in local government strategy.

In the current tight fiscal climate, effective and efficient asset management is a key element in the drive to improve service delivery and achieve efficiency gains.
