Following a debate in Parliament, the Forensic Science Regulator undertook a preliminary review of the use of the sodium rhodizonate test for the identification of firearm discharge residue in the early 1970s.

The purpose of the report was to determine whether there were grounds to commission a full review. The report sets out the material considered and the reasons for concluding that a full review is not warranted.
