This tax information and impact note is about extending the temporary 5 pence cut in fuel duty rates until March 2025.

Documents

Details

This measure extends the reduction in the fuel duty rates by 5 pence per litre that were:

  • introduced at Spring Statement in March 2022
  • extended at Spring Budget in March 2023

The fuel duty rates will remain at current levels for another 12 months, until March 2025. This means that the expected increase in fuel duty in the tax year 2024 to 2025 will not take place.

This represents a reduction of about 7 pence per litre for the main petrol and diesel rates compared to previous plans.
