Electrification of industrial processes is one of several technological solutions proposed for reducing emissions.

This study aims to improve our understanding of the potential of electrification for heating in emission-intensive industrial sectors such as cement, glass, paper, olefins, refining, and the food and drinks sector.

Through researching the processes within these sectors, it concluded that the majority of emissions were associated with combustion of fossil-fuels for heat generation.
