The finance sector is increasingly reliant on information technology services. To prepare for disruption to these services, it is important that finance sector entities regularly exercise their cyber incident response and recovery plans.

In recognition of this importance, the UK has worked with partners in the G-7 to identify the elements of a successful cyber exercise programme, including issuing non-binding guidance on:

  • stakeholder engagement
  • multi-year preparedness priorities
  • improvement planning
  • exercise design and development
  • exercise conduct
  • exercise assessment

The UK will continue to work with partners in the G-7 to improve the resilience of the finance sector.
