The UK Presidency organised a second meeting this year of the G7 Alliance for Resource Efficiency, inviting the G20 as guests to the second day of the meeting.

We welcomed technical experts from our G7 partners the US, Canada, Germany, Japan, France, Italy and the EU Commission on the first day, alongside delegates from guest countries from the G20 Argentina, Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, Spain, and The Republic of Korea on the second. Attendees discussed progress within their countries on increasing resource efficiency and shared best practice on resource efficiency metrics.

The agenda covered key themes including:

  • progressing the G7’s 5 year Bologna roadmap on resource efficiency
  • linkages between resource efficiency, climate change and biodiversity loss
  • resource efficiency metrics and indicators
