G7 principles for improved global food security monitoring and analysis for action

G7 countries agreed principles for improved global food security monitoring, to respond to global hunger, boost resilience and build back better after COVID-19.

G7 countries are building on their commitment to help improve global food security, building on the 2015 G7 Elmau Broad Food Security Commitment to 2030. Food insecurity been increasing again after years of improvement, in particular in climate-vulnerable and conflict-affected geographies, and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. To be better able to support the most affected and vulnerable at a time of multiple and increasing needs, in 2021 G7 have agreed these Principles for:

  • improved networking of relevant institutions and innovators
  • strong data and analytical standards
  • politically neutral and evidence-based analysis
  • clear messaging to support decision-makers and increase impact
