GCH Growers Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from an unnamed drain at Engine Farm within Burnt Fen Internal Drainage Board (IDB), Ely, Cambridgeshire between National Grid References TL 62162 83500 and TL 62842 82652.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

667 cubic metres an hour

16,008 cubic metres a day

600,000 cubic metres a year

between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be used to fill a reservoir for subsequent spray and/or trickle irrigation. The application is also to discharge water from the reservoir between 1 April and 31 October inclusive into the unnamed drain for re-abstraction from Burnt Fen IDB, Mildenhall IDB and Middle Fen and Mere IDB for spray and/or trickle irrigation.
