Privacy Notice - Arms Length Bodies data for Commercial Capability Programme

1. Your Data

1.1 Purpose

The Commercial Capability Programme within the Government Commercial Function seeks to improve the capability of senior commercial staff in central government departments. We do this through a range of assessment, talent and development services. As of August 2018 the programme is extending its scope to staff in wider government bodies. This Privacy Notice is aimed at staff in those wider government bodies.

The purpose for which we are processing your personal data is to support the planning and provision of Commercial Capability Programme services to you, and to track results from the Assessment and Development Centre (ADC) which may be used for analysis and shared with your line manager.

1.2 The data

We will process the following personal data:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Job title
  • Employer
  • Line manager name
  • Line manager email address
  • Government Commercial Function Specialist Level
  • Civil Service Grade
  • Work history
  • ADC date
  • ADC result
  • Talent, learning and development activities undertaken

The legal basis for processing your personal data is:

  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller i.e. the Government Commercial Function’s role in improving commercial capability across government

1.4 Recipients

As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors that provide email, and document management and storage services to us.

The results from your ADC may be shared with your line manager or organisational HR Business Partner.

Your personal data will be stored on a project management tool and on our IT infrastructure, so it will also be shared with our IT providers.

1.5 Retention

We will keep your personal data until the wider government body expansion project is complete in April 2020, and then it will be anonymised and aggregated.

1.6 Where you did not provide your data

Where you did not provide your data we obtained it from your employer, or from a commercial specialist that you manage.

1.7 Your Rights

You have the right to request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data.

You have the right to request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay.

You have the right to request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement.

You have the right to request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed.

You have the right in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data.

You have the right to request a copy of any personal data you have provided, and for this to be provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.

1.8 International Transfers

As your personal data is stored on our IT infrastructure, and shared with our data processors, it may be transferred and stored securely outside the European Union. Where that is the case it will be subject to equivalent legal protection through the use of Model Contract Clauses.

1.9 Complaints

If you consider that your personal data has been misused or mishandled, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, who is an independent regulator. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
