Details

The UK Advisory Panel for Healthcare Workers Infected with Bloodborne Viruses (UKAP) specialist general surgery working group have compiled a list of exposure prone procedures (EPPs) and non EPPs carried out in general surgery.

Each procedure has been categorised into the level of risk of bleed-back (EPP level 0 to 3) where injury to the healthcare worker could result in the worker’s blood contaminating the patient’s open tissues.

This list is not exhaustive of all procedures carried out in general surgery but is to be used as a guide only.
