In this letter to the Prime Minister, the CST looks at the risks and benefits of GM technologies and what government can do to improve the quality of debate in the UK and Europe.

The letter refers to 2 reports relating to the evidence on GM crops. The first, ‘GM science update’ (above) is a report to CST by a group of scientists chaired by Professor Sir David Baulcombe. The second ‘Planting the future’ is a report by the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC).
