Futures research that builds on the findings of the Genomics Beyond Health report, it explores 2 potential issues:
- the potential expansion of an unregulated commercial market in genomic testing in education-related fields
- potential use of genomic screening at birth to identify additional educational needs, for example, to identify children at higher risk of developing conditions associated with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
This research, carried out by Ipsos UK through the Futures Procurement Framework, was commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE), with co-funding from the Government Office for Science (GO-Science).
