Details

This guidance advises deputies and attorneys on how to approach giving gifts on behalf of the person they act for.

Attorneys and deputies can only give gifts on behalf of that person:

  • in some situations
  • if it’s in the person’s best interests

The guidance explains:

  • the legal framework to gifting
  • the approach the Office of the Public Guardian takes when deputies or attorneys go beyond their authority to give gifts
