This handbook sets out how scientists and engineers in government can manage their professional development, enhance their performance, and achieve success. It includes guidance on;

  • putting together a continuing professional development (CPD) programme
  • using the skills framework
  • carrying out a self-assessment
  • maintaining a learning and development plan

The guidance is aimed primarily at Government Science and Engineering (GSE) members, however it can also be used by those scientists in other roles, and as a signpost to more specialist training where needed.
