In line with the General Medical Services contract, one session is one tenth of a week.

It is anticipated that opportunities will exist for GP educators to be paid on a higher scale point for agreed periods, covering specific and time-limited pieces of work.

This enhancement may be applied to some or all of existing sessions by written agreement with the deanery.

Annual appraisal of performance and professional development should include a review of the GP educators’ position on the pay scale.

The GP trainer grant (previously notified through directions to Health Education England) is £8,584 from 1 April 2020.
