Details
A key barrier to uptake of plug-in vehicles is a lack of suitably sited charging infrastructure. Train station car parks are ideal locations for such infrastructure because vehicles are often parked there for several hours a day, giving an ideal opportunity for plug-in vehicle drivers to top up their charge. The government has made funding available to train operators in England to pay 75% of the costs of installing chargepoints in station car parks.
