Details
From February 2013 local authorities are able to sign up to grant schemes aimed at increasing the availability of plug-in vehicle charging infrastructure. The schemes give local authorities access to grant funding, administered by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), which can be used to part-fund the procurement and installation of such infrastructure, in line with specific technical specifications. The schemes have been set up with two specific purposes in mind:
- to increase the availability of on-street chargepoints in residential streets where off-street parking is not available
- to increase the availability of rapid chargepoints in locations where those points will help increase the uptake of plug-in vehicles
