Following the Green Gas Support Scheme (GGSS) Annual Tariff Review (ATR) 2024, the Secretary of State has decided to increase GGSS tariffs. This includes Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 tariffs. The new tariff rates will come into effect on 1 October 2024.
Tariffs from 1 October 2024 will be:
- Tier 1: up to 60,000 MWh – 6.69p/kWh
- Tier 2: the next 40,000 MWh – 4.16p/kWh
- Tier 3: above 100,000 MWh up to 250,000 MWh – 3.88p/kWh
These tariffs will be applied to tariff guarantees (TGs) awarded to successful applicants whose TG applications are submitted from 1 October 2024 and before the next GGSS tariff change is in effect.
GGSS tariffs are reviewed while the scheme is open to applications through ATRs, published annually by 1 September. Tariffs can also be reduced if a degression is triggered by a quarterly Expenditure Forecast Statement. More information is available on the GGSS Budget Management guidance page.
Tariffs will be uprated for inflation on 1 April 2025, using the percentage increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the 2024 calendar year.
GGSS tariffs are published online by Ofgem.
This notice is published in accordance with regulation 20(5) of the Green Gas Support Scheme Regulations 2021.
