This document contains guidance on new laws relating to the recovery of unpaid parking charges on private land. The laws come into effect on 1 October 2012.

In 2015 the policy responsibility for off-street parking transferred from the Department for Transport to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. On-street parking still remains the responsibility of the Department for Transport.
