How to record delegated driving test details
Updated 21 February 2019
Applies to England, Scotland and Wales
1. Overview
You have to record the details of all delegated driving tests your organisation carries out. You have to do this before the test is carried out.
You have to record details of:
- new tests
- changes to tests
- cancelled tests
You have to do this for:
- driving licence acquisition tests
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) tests
2. Sign in to the service
-
Go to the service to record delegated driving test details.
-
Sign in to the Government Gateway using your user ID and password. If you do not have an account, you can set one up on the sign in page.
3. Record details of a new test
Follow these steps when you’re signed into the service.
If the candidate is retaking a test, it must be at least 3 clear working days after their previous attempt. Sundays and public holidays do not count as working days.
The service does not check the dates. You have to make sure enough time has passed between attempts.
-
Select New delegated examiner test notification.
-
Select the examiner who’ll be carrying out the test from the drop-down list. If the details are wrong, or the examiner is not listed, call the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) on 0115 936 6371.
-
Check the details are correct and then select New order.
-
Select Add test notification.
-
Fill in all the required fields, check the details are correct and select Save notification.
The test notification will then be listed on the summary screen.
You can then either select:
- Add test notification to add another test
- Complete to finish
You’ll then see the order confirmation screen. If it’s a Driver CPC part 4 test, you’ll see the payment screen first.
Keep a record of the reference numbers
Make a note of your order reference number and application reference number. You need these to make a change or cancel a test.
4. Make a change or cancel a test
Follow these steps when you’re signed into the service.
-
Select the test notification that you want to make a change to or cancel.
-
Select Edit.
-
You can now make changes to the test or select Cancel notification to cancel the test.
-
Select Complete to finish and you’ll see the confirmation page.
5. Pay for a Driver CPC part 4 test
You have to pay a fee of £41 to book each Driver CPC part 4 test.
You can pay by:
- debit or credit card
- pre-funded account
Refunds
You’ll get a refund if you:
- change a Driver CPC part 4 test to another type of test
- cancel a Driver CPC part 4 test
The details of your refund will be shown on your confirmation screen.
You’ll get the refund by the same method you used to pay for the test.
