H2O Power Generation Ltd: application made to impound water

H2O Power Generation Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Trent at Beeston Weir, between National Grid References (NGRs) SK 53576 35299 and SK 53543 35229 (main weir) and between NGRs SK 53543 35229 and SK 53406 35259 (side weir).
Water will be obstructed or impeded by altering the existing weir by removing the 300 millimetres raised level on the main weir to install an adjustable weir and to permanently raise the side weir to help regulate upstream water levels during the operation of the existing hydropower scheme on the side weir.
A fish easement will be installed on the left bank of the river.
