H2O Power Ltd: application made to abstract water

H2O Power Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Mersey at Howley Weir at National Grid Reference SJ 61564 87691. The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 39,600 cubic metres an hour
- 950,400 cubic metres a day
- 330,000,000 cubic metres a year
- At a maximum rate of 11 cubic metres per second.
The water will be used for a new hydropower scheme.
