Hampshire Lease Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a groundwater fed seepage lagoon in the Bracklesham Group, in West End, Southampton, Hampshire at National Grid Reference SU 48031 14094.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 25 cubic metres an hour

  • 125 cubic metres a day

  • 18,000 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for two purposes: spray irrigation storage and the topping up of a lake to maintain water levels.
