Harworth Estates (Investments) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to dewater an area fed by Pennine Lower Coal Measures within an area between National Grid References (NGRs) (A) SE 33613 31222, (B) SE 33778 31071, (C) SE 33621 30895, and (D) SE 33455 31047 at Skelton Grange, Leeds, to transfer all water abstracted to the River Aire at NGRs SE 33505 30834 and SE 33516 30798 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 288 cubic metres an hour
- 6,902 cubic metres a day
- 2,519,230 cubic metres a year
- between 01 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The proposed abstraction lies within the Aire Lower Hydrometric Catchment and Aire and Calder Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area.
