Addendum: Hot food takeaways use in the new Use Class Order

Practical support for local authorities that wish to use the planning system to achieve these important public health outcomes.

Set in the context of a whole systems approach to tackling obesity, this document provides a framework and starting point for local authorities to clearly set out in local planning guidance how best to achieve healthy weight environments, based on local evidence and needs.

The document sets out a template for a supplementary planning document (SPD).

From 1 September 2020, there are changes to the Use Class Order and the classification of food retail premises, including hot food takeaways. The addendum provides an update and clarifies what the new changes mean for planning for the food retail environment.
