In May 2016, the World Health Assembly endorsed the Global Health Sector Strategy (GHSS) on viral hepatitis. This strategy proposes to eliminate viral hepatitis as a major public health threat by 2030. To reach these targets in England, more infected individuals need to be diagnosed and access curative treatments. Knowing the numbers accessing treatment and its outcome is key for monitoring the progress of elimination.

This report summarises the content and completeness of data contained within the Hepatitis C patient registry and treatment outcome system at the end of April 2018, enabling a preliminary assessment of HCV treatment and its monitoring in England.
