Hillier Nurseries Limited: applications made to abstract water

Hillier Nurseries Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
A new full application to abstract from the Batts Brook at Flexcombe, Hampshire at National Grid Reference SU 76942 27310 (known as ‘point X’) from 01 November to 31 March inclusive. The volumes and purposes applied for are as follows:
For filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation:
• 36 cubic metres per hour
• 400 cubic metres per day
• 6,250 cubic metres per year
• At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 10 litres per second.
For filling a reservoir for subsequent trickle irrigation:
• 36 cubic metres per hour
• 400 cubic metres per day
• 18,750 cubic metres per year
• At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 10 litres per second.
For filling a reservoir for subsequent discharge and re-abstraction for spray and trickle irrigation under the terms of licence number 10/41/436004:
• 22,731 cubic metres per year.
Hillier Nurseries Limited has also applied to vary a full licence to abstract (take) water.
The application is to vary licence serial number 10/41/436004 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Rother at Liss and Sheet, Hampshire at National Grid References:
• Point A SU 77834 28795
• Point B SU 77982 28577
• Point C SU 77937 28145
• Point D SU 77834 28795
• Point E SU 77982 28577
• Point F SU 77937 28145
The variation applied for is to:
• Remove points A, B and C and re-allocate the existing licensed quantities of 22,731 cubic metres per year from these points to the new abstraction point (known as Point X) from the Batt’s Brook.
• Add the purpose of trickle irrigation.
The remaining abstraction quantities from Points D, E and F will be as follows:
From Abstraction Point D:
• 22,731 cubic metres per year.
From Abstraction Points E and F:
• 34 cubic metres per hour
• 818 cubic metres per day
• 22,727 cubic metres per year
• At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 9.44 litres per second.
The aggregate quantity of water authorised to be abstracted from Abstraction Points D, E and F shall not exceed:
• 22,727 cubic metres per year.
